Posting Jobs

Employers and staffing firms should establish an account with this Web site first. Subsequently, the firm can go directly to the JobLine form and enter the data for the position they’re advertising.

Note: We review all material before publishing it on our Web site. We do not, however, verify or guarantee the accuracy of any information presented in a job posting. 

Procedures

  1. Register your company’s account with the James River Chapter STC by clicking the Register link in the lower left-hand panel of the Web site.

    Note: This will be an individual’s account, personally identifiable with a username and e-mail address for the individual. The company will be identified later.
  2. Login to stc-jamesriver.org.
  3. Select Show Jobs from the Employment menu in the right-hand column.
  4. Click Post a Job (located below the list of current job postings).
  5. The Job Posting Form appears in the center column.

Job Posting Form 

Title

Enter the title of the job offered.

Job Type

Select from the drop-down list the type of employment offered

  • Full-time
  • Part-time
  • Internship

Enter Job Status

Select from the drop-down list the current status of this position:

  • Sourcing
  • Interviewing
  • Closed to New Applicants
  • Finalists Identified
  • Pending Approval
  • Hold

Sourcing means that you’re looking for applicants; Pending Approval means that the position is tentative, subject to contract award. All other status levels can be used to update the position to discourage new applications.

Location

Enter the city or town and select the appropriate US state from the drop-down list. (You can be expansive here; scroll bars will appear if your description exceeds the text box display area.)

Description

Describe the position in this text area.

Qualifications

Identify the job skills and other qualifications needed to fill this position.

Compensation Range

Enter the compensation range or annotate it as DOE (Depends on Experience).

Show compensation?

Click the check box to display the compensation range. (More are likely to apply if they have an idea of the potential compensation.)

How to apply

Identify the way candidates should apply. Include a description of the acceptable formats for résumés received online.

Start Date

Enter the date (at least month/year) when the incumbent is expected to begin work.

Number of Openings

Indicate how many openings there are; “1” is fine.

Enter the city where your company is located.

Select State

Enter the state where your company is located.

Zip Code

Enter your company’s Zip Code.

Company Website

Please enter the full URL for your company’s Web site (http://www.yourcompany.com).

Contact Name

Enter the name of the individual who will receive applications.

Contact Phone

Enter the telephone number for the Contact person.

Contact Email

Enter the e-mail address for the contact person.

Show Contact on Job Posting?

Check this box if you want the contact information to be displayed with the job posting.

Member ID

Re-enter your company’s name.
