It’s time to begin preparations for the STC James River Chapter elections. Our goal is to hold the election from April 15–May 2. We will be electing the president, vicepresident, secretary, and treasurer of the chapter. We would also like to elect a second vice-president, but so far there are no candidates.
We have members interested in serving in four positions, and are still actively seeking at least one nominee for second-vice president. President: Cynthia Curl
Cynthia served as vice president of the James River Chapter in 2007 and assumed the role of president after Don White resigned. Cynthia is employedas a functional analyst for CIBER, Inc. She is a former member of the STC Lone Star Chapter in Texas and was the manager for its Job Bank. Cynthia states that she is running for president for the coming term in order to continue the work begun by the administrative board to help revitalize the chapter.
Vice-President: Brent Hoard
Brent now serves as the James River Chapter’s program chairman. He is the webmaster at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia and started his affiliation with STC in 2002 as a student member of the Mercer University STC Chapter. He is now a senior member of STC and plans to continue serving as program chairman as well as vice-president.
Secretary: Annalise Beck
Annalise now serves as the membership chairman for the James River Chapter. She is employed as a documentation specialist for General Dynamics Information Technology and is a senior member of STC. She has served several other chapters in various capacities, including:
- Organizing Committee for the STC Pan Pacific Regional Conference held in Hawaii in October 2000
- President of the Aloha Chapter in Hawaii (1999-2000)
- Member of the Scholarship Committee for the Puget Sound Chapter in Seattle in 1996-97
- Secretary of the Puget Sound Chapter (1994–1996)
- Publications judge for annual STC Competition for the Puget Sound Chapter in 1993–94
Treasurer: Linda Bollinger
Linda is currently the treasurer for the James River Chapter and is willing to serve another term. She is employed as a technical writer/editor at TekSystems, a contractor to Northrop Grumman's Consumer State and Local Business Group. She has been an STC member since November 2006.
