I was able to communicate with two of the six members assigned to me. One member preferred e-mail contact. This member works for a translation service and has many years experience in that field. He offered to do a program for us, if we opt to hold an in-person meeting in Richmond. He may be agreeable to doing a program for a conference, if we manage to hold one.

The other member, with whom I spoke by telephone, was much more forthcoming about his thoughts on why our meetings don't draw more people. It's his opinion that person-to-person contact and interaction, rather than programming, is the main draw for people who go to monthly meetings. That might explain why, despite our programs, only the officers attend. He also suggested the conference idea as a way of drawing members together.

I have not heard from any other members despite repeated attempts to contact them.
