Consumers would use the proposed identity card, or i-card, to access Web sites using a secure digital identity that they create and that is managed by a third party.
The idea is to reduce or eliminate Internet fraud and prevent phishing expeditions.
On the one hand, it seems a good idea, doesn't it? Yet, I wonder about placing my personally identifying information in the hands of any third party for any purpose. Maybe I've watched "Minority Report" and given thought to retina scanners and RFID once too many times.
Any thoughts?
