Hourly work rate for proposals... 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I wondered if anyone had any ideas about a reasonable hourly work rate for working on proposals/bids for govt. contracts. I have a line on a freelance opportunity with some former co-workers, and we'll need to know what the market rate is. Any ideas? Thanks!

Really, it's what the market will bear, isn't it? I have a minimum, below which I won't consider an assignment. I have my "customary" rate, and I'll negotiate between that and my minimum.

I don't advertise my minimum.

If a group or an individual offer me more than my customary rate, I accept it with alacrity. Assuming, that is, that the project is worthwhile (do-able, ethical, legal, etc.)

Cheers,
